Canuck Mink Maiden here,

Here is a story I would like to share with you all:

A while back we heard about a young women who walking in a nature reserve with her two small children, when out of nowhere a cougar sprung out. The woman was brutally malled and killed. Later the cougar was located and euthanized by wildlife officers. Unfortunately, they also found that the cougar had two small cubs of her own. Meanwhile , a relief fund was set up by family and friends in the community for the dead woman's children. A while later, animal activists created a 'save the kittens' campaign. So: which campaign do you think raised more money? Yep, you guessed it: close to fifty thousand dollars was raised for their children -- but more than three million dollars was donated for the cougar cubs! I'm sorry, but what the heck's wrong with society these days?!

It's so easy to hate people you don't know and things you don't understand. Our society is becoming so intolerant. It is amazing that activist groups can raise millions of dollars attacking the hard work and dedication of farmers. Fur farmers work long hours, seven days a week , year round, to care for their animals and feed their families. Meanwhile, groups like PETA find one farm, somewhere on the planet, that's not doing a good job -- and portray that as the norm, to discredit an entire industry. Lies repeated often enough are accepted as truth -- but real people pay the price. As far as I'm concerned, the misleading campaigns of these activist groups is nothing but another form of terrorism, bullying society to impose their own values on others. The hard work of farmers allows most of the population to live now in cities, but that doesn't give PETA the right to insult and degrade decent hard-working people who feed and clothe them. Enough! I for one will be silent no longer. Thank you for your "Fur is Green" website! You have my full support, and I will be encouraging more rural people to start speaking out!

Peta, Shmeeta

They're just full of dirty tricks,
like one of those old horror flicks:
They tell lies and bend the truth,
a mind - washing gang with no couth!
Planting seeds of dubious facts,
this bully group funds themselves on the farmers' backs !
No rhyme or reason to much of what they say,
this so called "charity" slanders farmers today.
What our country was founded on -- hard working, straight and true --
farmers, ranchers and loggers, now that's Canadian glue!
So forget the fella wearing the Armani suit --
how about some respect for the guy in the black rubber boot?
Hold strong, be true, and never give in
to the terrorists, bullies, and Peta henchmen!
